SETTUP THE SERIES

TK Thoits

In the high‑stakes world of medical breakthroughs, the truth can be deadly.

When renowned neurologist Dr. Stella Murray stakes her reputation on a revolutionary drug’s approval, she knows the science is solid—yet the shadows surrounding the industry run deep. After a patient suffers a severe reaction, her world collides with that of Detective Troy Evans, who is investigating the suspicious death of a clinical Site Monitor tied to her research.

As Evans learns the billion‑dollar drug trial arena is ruled by power brokers who answer to no one, a second murder shatters any illusion of coincidence. Bound by a shared determination to expose the rot beneath the glossy surface of medical innovation, Murray and Evans race against time to unmask a conspiracy willing to silence anyone—at any cost.

Gripping, timely, and unflinching, this is a thriller where science, greed, and justice collide—and where the fight for truth could cost everything.

From Neurologist to Novelist: T.K. Thoits’ Insider Thriller "SETTUP"

What happens when "a respected Grand Rapids neurologist and researcher reports a dangerous side effect in a promising new experimental medication?"

After completing a Neurology residency and Epilepsy fellowship, I started working with patients and their families in Grand Rapids, MI. Guiding people to a correct diagnosis, often based on confusing and vague symptoms, was professionally challenging and rewarding. Thirty years later, retirement knocked on my door. Replacing the stethoscope in my little black bag with a pen has allowed me to continue chasing two passions: Neurology and untangling mysteries.

Many great writers influenced my writing style including Micheal Patterson, Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, Tess Gerritsen, David Baldacci, and Allison Brennan.
